9/10 (ending’s credibility)

This film is about as good as there is from a quality perspective: great dialogue, great acting/chemistry, great action, compelling plot, great pacing, great editing, great music. Even if Tarantino weren’t a talented director all of the above would be more than enough. Sure there aren’t any momentous issues being discussed or philosophical questions being raised, but what’s wrong with pure diversion every once in a while? My only (minor) complaint was the incredibility of the ending: White going to bat for Orange against a guy (Joe) he’s known for decades. Of course I don’t believe this is a film that should be analyzed too much in this vein, which is why I still give it a 9.
